Bradenton, Fla. - The Holy Cross baseball team earned its first win of the year with a 10-5 victory over Duquesne on Monday afternoon in Bradenton, Fla. The Crusaders are now 1-1 on the season, while the Dukes fall to 1-5.

Leading the way for the Crusaders was senior Tom Potvin who went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs, thanks to a three-run shot in the fourth inning, which gave Holy Cross a 7-0 lead. Junior first baseman Andrew Tenaglia also had a fine day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. Tenaglia had a RBI double in the second.

Junior pitcher Scott Hampe picked up his first win of the season after going 7.0 innings and striking out five. Hampe allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits. Tim Thran and Mike Thater both made relief appearances for Holy Cross.

The Dukes managed just six hits and committed four errors.

Holy Cross will face Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne in double-header action on Tuesday, March 7.
