Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Steve Soldi (Clinton, Mass.) went 2-for-3 including a double and scored a run but it wasn't enough as the Holy Cross baseball team fell to LeMoyne, 15-5, at Fitton Field this afternoon. The Crusaders are now 4-10 on the season while the Dolphins improve to 7-10 overall.

Senior Gil Gomez (Lake Worth, Fla.) had an impressive showing at his second at bat, hitting a two-run to homer to centerfield.

LeMoyne jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning as Phil ST. Amant hit a single to drive in the first run and Corey O'Neil scored on a fielder's choice. The Dolphins put up two more runs in the second inning as Stephen Crawford hit a double to score Robert Perez and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Murphy to right field.

The Crusaders scored in the bottom of the third as freshman Brendan McCrea (Hicksville, N.Y.) drove in a run off of a single. Holy Cross got within in two runs of the Dolphins after trailing 6-1 going into the fourth inning with Gomez's homer and freshman Eric Oxford (Danvers, Mass.) scored on an unearned run.

After LeMoyne rallied in the fifth inning to lead the Crusaders, 10-4. Holy Cross answered back with one run in the bottom of the fifth but LeMoyne's offense shook up the Crusaders for the remainder game, driving in five more runs in the last four innings.

Corey Nelson picked up the win for the Dolphins, giving up two hits and striking out one in one inning of work. Junior Dan Seip (North Carver, Mass.) received the loss for Holy Cross, pitching innings and scattering six hits and giving up four runs while fanning one batter.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, March 22, as they host Quinnipiac at 12:00 p.m.
