Eric Oxford Receives Ron Soucie Award

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman first baseman Eric Oxford (Danvers, Mass.) has been named the 2008 recipient of the Ron Soucie Award. Created by his former teammates Rick DeAngelis (Class of 1970) and Tom Kelly (Class of 1967), the Soucie Award is presented annually to the Rookie of the Year on the Holy Cross baseball team.

During the 2008 season, Oxford has played in 45 games at first base, starting 34 times. He currently leads the team with a .326 batting average, in addition to totaling 24 runs batted in, 15 runs scored and 12 doubles this year. Defensively, Oxford has committed just four errors in 338 total chances, good for a .988 fielding percentage.
