Kent Flanders Wins Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award
Senior strong safety Kent Flanders (Atlanta, Ga.), a member of the football team, has been selected as the 2007-2008 recipient of the Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award. The award was presented at the 53rd annual Holy Cross Varsity Club dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Satruday, May 3. The Allen Award was established in 2005, and is presented to the Holy Cross varsity athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship that coach Allen exhibited throughout his life. A four-year starter for the Crusaders, Flanders was one of the most well-liked and respected members of the team, who mentored younger players and served as a positive role model. (more)

HC Receives Public Recognition Award
Fifteen Holy Cross varsity athletic teams have received Division I Academic Progress Rate public recognition awards from the NCAA. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports. The public recognition awards are part of the broad Division I academic reform effort. The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. (more)

Holy Cross Names 2008 Team Captains
Senior strong safety Daryl Brown (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and senior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) will serve as the captains of the 2008 College of the Holy Cross football team, it was announced following the conclusion of spring practice by Crusader head coach Tom Gilmore. Randolph, who was also one of three captains during the 2007 campaign, becomes only the 11th player in school history to serve as a team captain for more than one season. (more)
