Dominic Randolph Named One Of 16 Finalists For 2007 Walter Payton Award
Nov. 12, 2007 WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) has been selected as one of 16 finalists for the 2007 Walter Payton Award, it was announced today by the Sports Network. The Walter Payton Award is presented annually by the Sports Network to the top player in the Division I football championship subdivision, and will be awarded for the 21st time on Thursday, Dec. 13, in Chattanooga, Tenn. Voting on the Payton Award will take place following the conclusion of the regular season next week. In 10 games played this season, Randolph has completed 268 of 440 attempts for 3,163 yards and 27 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He has also rushed 45 times for 105 yards and four scores, while accounting for 3,268 yards of total offense. Randolph currently ranks second in the nation in both completions and passing yards, fourth in total offense, sixth in points responsible for (186 points) and 28th in pass efficiency (137.9 rating). He also leads the Patriot League in passing yards and total offense, while standing second in pass efficiency. In addition, Randolph has set Holy Cross single season records for both completions and pass attempts, while ranking second on the single season lists for passing yards, total offense and touchdown passes. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, Randolph has hit on 452 of 739 attempts for 5,400 yards and 46 touchdowns. He currently ranks second all-time at Holy Cross in career completion percentage (61.2 percent), fifth in touchdown passes, fifth in completions, fifth in passing yards, fifth in pass attempts and fifth in total offense (5,594 yards). Randolph is also the active NCAA football championship subdivision leader in career passing yards per game (284.2). Holy Cross has an overall record of 6-4 on the season, with a 3-2 mark in the Patriot League.
