         <description><![CDATA[On February 24th the Holy Cross lacrosse team traveled to Connecticut to take on Yale. At the time we were 1-0 and coming off a good opening game win over St. John's. It was a good feeling to start off the season with a win because we had been working hard in practice and were heading into the season with high expectations. After our win over St. John's the team seemed to gain a bit of confidence and the way we practiced heading into that game felt different.]]></description>

With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-5 overall, while the Big Green improve to 4-3 overall. Smirti tied the goals record set by John Vrionis against WPI on April 13, 1968. He is now the fourth Holy Cross player to earn 10 points. The three previous players were Ryan Dooley against Marist on May 1, 1994, Rob Callahan against Siena on April 12, 1994 and Pat Kelly against Tufts on April 16, 1985.]]></description>

The 7-6 win on February 24 was Holy Cross' first ever victory against Yale. Yale had won the previous first seven contests in the all-time series starting in 1965. The Crusaders are 2-0 and are ranked fifth in the New England Coaches Poll. This is Holy Cross' best start since going 4-0 in 1985.
