         <description><![CDATA[The Holy Cross rowing teams have announced seniors Kelly St. Germain (Cambridge, Mass.) and Clare Bracikowski (Brentwood, Tenn.) as the 2008-2009 captains of the women's team and Adam Furlong (Pittstown, N.J.) and Erik Winstead (Fairfield, Conn.) as the 2008-2009 captains of the men's team. St. Germain, originally from Cambridge, Mass., has been part of the Holy Cross Women's Rowing team since Fall 2005. St. Germain was part of the Women's Novice Eight that earned a bronze medal at the New England Championships Regatta and a silver medal at the ECAC National Invitational Regatta.]]></description>

The second varsity boat finished second in their race with a time of 6:04.39 just behind George Washington who earned the first place finish with a time of 6:00.39. The varsity eight boat finished just under three second times with a time of 5:53.94 just behind the George Washington boat who had a first-place finish time of 5:51.96. The men's novice eight boat finished with a time of 6:28.86 behind George Washington who recorded a time of 6:04.91.]]></description>

The varsity eight team finished with a time of 6:19.20, ahead of Lehigh who placed second with a time of 6:24.97 and Bucknell who finished third with a time of 6:29.65. The second varsity eight A team picked up a first place finish with a time of 6:30.91, followed by Bucknell (6:36.67), Lehigh 6:49.69, and the Holy Cross varsity eight B team (6:57.32).]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The Holy Cross men's rowing season started off on the frigid morning of Saturday, March 29th, where the Crusaders faced Wesleyan University and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. After breaking through the ice that had covered lake Quinsigamond the previous week, the squad was excited for their first performance that had been a long time coming. Conditions were less than ideal as temperatures were right around freezing and the occasional snow flurry demonstrated though racing season had begun, it was not yet spring.]]></description>

The Head of the Charles is the largest two-day regatta and attracts the best teams from around the world. The Crusaders competed in some of the most competitive events offered, including the Men's and Women's Club Eight, the Men's Lightweight Eight, and the Men's and Women's Championship Eight events.On Saturday, Holy Cross finished 17 of 68 boats in the Men's Club Eight Race with a time of 16:02.913. The Crusaders' beat several impressive teams in this race including teams from Wesleyan, Brown, and Boston University.]]></description>
