Holy Cross Men's Rowing Wins Patriot Challenge

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Holy Cross men's rowing team won the Men's Patriot Challenge on Sunday, April 27, picking up two first place finishes in the varsity eight and Second Varsity Eight races.

The varsity eight team of coxswain Chris Hayden, Adam Furlong, Mike Cutting, Eric Winstead, Wade Lucas, James Eagen, Kevin Cummings, Chris Lynett, and bowman Christian Bratton finished with a time of 6:19.20, ahead of Lehigh who placed second with a time of 6:24.97 and Bucknell who finished third with a time of 6:29.65.

The second varsity eight A team of coxswain Scott Dube, Gavin Ehlrich, DJ Estes, Terry Therrien, Garrett Pearce, Will Bogdanowicz, Greg Pinneci, Colum Weiden, and bowman Chris Sieck picked up a first place finish with a time of 6:30.91, followed by Bucknell (6:36.67), Lehigh 6:49.69, and the Holy Cross varsity eight B team (6:57.32).

The novice eight team of coxswain Mary Carol Madigan, Grant O'Connell, Robert Valenti, Peter Sandrib, Justin Howlett, Matt O'Sullivan, Ryan Cordes, Tucker Wade, and Pete Haney finished second in their race with a time of 6:47.78, behind Lehigh who finished first with a time of 6:43.02.

The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, May 4, when they host George Washington.
