May 15, 2005

Results

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's rowing team concluded its 2005 spring season on Sunday at the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges Championship, held on Lake Quinsigamond.

The Crusaders had only one boat taking part in the competition, as the varsity eight rowed against some of the top teams in the country. Holy Cross placed fourth in its heat with a time of 5:48.374, which was good enough to advance to the petite final for the first time ever. The Crusaders finished ahead of both Pennsylvania (5:51.255) and Syracuse (5:54.568) in the heat.

Holy Cross then posted a time of 5:44.421 in the final, to once again finish fourth. The Crusaders just barely missed beating Cornell (5:42.977), but did hold off both Columbia (5:44.959) and Wisconsin (5:46.924). Holy Cross was also only five seconds behind first place Navy (5:39.094).

Overall, Holy Cross placed 10th in the field of 17 teams.
