Elvis Comrie is in his 17th season as the head coach of the Crusaders. Comrie has the most career wins (108) of any men's soccer coach in the history of the program and he is the most tenured coach in the history of Holy Cross soccer.

In the past 13 seasons Comrie has guided the Crusaders to nine Patriot League Tournaments, including a string of seven straight appearances from 1997-2003.

Comrie led Holy Cross to a 13-5-1 overall record in 2002 and the Patriot League Regular Season and Tournament Championships for the first time in school history. The 13 wins marked the most victories in the 38-year history of the men's soccer program at Holy Cross. That season, Comrie led the Crusaders to their first NCAA Tournament appearance, where they lost to Fairleigh Dickinson on penalty kicks. The Crusaders finished third in the NSCAA/adidas Division I poll for the New England region, after earning the school's first national Top 25 ranking on October 14, 2002. Holy Cross also won its second consecutive Patriot League Regular Season Championship in 2002, after winning the regular season title in 2001 with a 10-5-2 (6-0-1 Patriot League) record.

In 1995, Comrie guided Holy Cross to one of the most successful seasons in school history. The Crusaders became just the second team in Patriot League history to go undefeated in conference play (5-0-1). After opening the season with a 1-0 loss to eventual NCAA Champion Wisconsin, the Crusaders reeled off eight straight wins to climb to the top of the league standings. For his efforts Comrie was named the 1995 Patriot League Coach of the Year by his peers, an award he also received in 1999 and 2001 after Holy Cross finished first in the PL in the regular season with unbeaten records (5-0-1 in 1999 and 6-0-1 in 2001). In 2001, Holy Cross hosted the Patriot League Men's Soccer Championship Tournament for the third time.

Comrie took over the Crusader program in 1991, and in just three years turned the program into a New England contender. His 1993 squad, featuring five sophomores and five freshmen in the starting lineup, won nine games and earned Holy Cross a Top-10 New England ranking for the first time since 1985. Holy Cross improved to 10 wins the following year, finishing seventh in the final New England poll.

Comrie came to Mount St. James with an extensive background as a player, coach and administrator. As an assistant coach under Shaun Green at Central Connecticut from 1989-90, he helped the Blue Devils to a 25-13-1 record. In 1989, Central Connecticut went 15-3 and earned a top five ranking in New England.

As a collegiate player, Comrie was a four-year starter for the University of Connecticut, leading the Huskies to the NCAA National Championship in 1981. Over the course of his career, he received All-America, All-New England and All-Yankee Conference honors, as well as being named Collegiate Player of the Year in 1981 by Soccer America. He is currently the second all-time leading scorer at UConn with 145 career points.

Comrie also was successful on the professional and international circuits. In 1982 he was the runner up for NASL Rookie of the Year as a member of the Montreal Manic in the first of his nine professional seasons. He earned NASL All-Star honors in 1984 when he helped lead the Chicago Sting to the NASL Championship. He played internationally in France, as well as playing for the United States National Team.

Comrie was inducted into the Connecticut Hall of Fame in 2005.
