Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Jon Werth's (University Park, Md.) second half goal pushed Holy Cross into double overtime with Bucknell, resulting in a 1-1 tie. This is the second Patriot League tie in a row for the Crusaders, who tied Colgate last week, 0-0, opening conference action for Holy Cross.

A scoreless first half between the teams was scattered with several scoring opportunities as Bucknell outshot Holy Cross, 3-2.

The Bison took the upper hand early in the second half as Ross Liberati headed the ball past Holy Cross goalie Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) off a corner kick from Alex Russo.

Down, 1-0, the Crusaders successfully scored on a corner kick 14 minutes later with Werth taking the ball straight to the net unassisted.

Holy Cross continued to dominate on offense, totaling 15 shots in the second half while the Bison had seven.

Few opportunities came up in overtime play for both teams as Bucknell had three shots and Holy Cross had one.

The Crusaders have a 4-3-2 overall record, 0-0-2 in the Patriot League, while Bucknell now stands at 4-3-4, 1-0-1 in league play.

Holy Cross hosts Quinnipiac on Tuesday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m., playing the make-up game rescheduled from September 8 due to inclement weather.
