Men's Soccer Defeats Lehigh, 2-1
Oct. 13, 2007
WORCESTER, Mass. - Alejandro Melean (Miami, Fla.) and Andreas Andrews (Lost Angeles, Calif.) each netted a goal as Holy Cross beat Lehigh, 2-1, in each team's third Patriot League contest. The Crusaders improve to 5-4-2 with a 1-0-2 Patriot League record while Lehigh falls to 5-3-2 and 1-2-0 in league play. Jim Taranto scored the lone Mountain Hawks' goal heading into the last 10 minutes of the first half. Matthew McNeil assisted Taranto, lifting Lehigh to a 1-0 lead going into the second half. Netting his first season goal, Melean evened the score at 1-1 on an unassisted free kick kicked just out of reach of Lehigh's goalkeeper, Brian Lee. With 27:31 left in the game, Chidie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) chipped the ball to Andrews in front of the net, lining up the game-winner for Holy Cross. Holy Cross travels to Harvard on Wednesday October, 17 for a non-conference game scheduled at 3:30 p.m. |
