Men's Soccer Rolls Over Navy, 4-1
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Andreas Andrews (Los Angeles, Calif.) netted both first half goals as Holy Cross defeated Navy, 4-1, in Patriot League action tonight.
Marsalis Beckford (Brantford, Ontario) set up the first Crusader scoring opportunity as Andrews knocked a header past Navy's goalkeeper Thomas Jenkins, giving Holy Cross an early 1-0 lead. With little hesitation, Miller scored the Crusaders' second goal just 1:04 later, assisted by Sefton Kincaid (Orlando, Fla.). Ending the first period, Holy Cross held onto a 2-0 lead. Assisted by Andrews, Jon Werth (University Park, Md.) continued the Crusaders' offensive momentum into the second half, scoring with 28:57 left in the game. Navy's efforts were finally rewarded as Justin Waskey made a shot inside the box, allowing Anthony Parker to catch the rebound and put into an open net. With 14:45 left in the game, Navy scratched the Crusaders' shutout, 3-1. With 7:40 left in the game, Holy Cross was far from ending the game quietly. Receiving a pass from Felipe Castrillon (Weston, Fla.), Andrews took the ball down the field going one-on-one with Jenkins, netting the fourth Crusader goal in the left corner. Crusaders' goalkeeper Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) and Jenkins both had three saves. Holy Cross improves to 6-4-3, 2-0-2 in the Patriot League while Navy falls to 6-5-2, 0-4-0 in league play. Holy Cross hosts American on Saturday, October 27 for Patriot League action scheduled at 7:00 p.m. |
