Box Score

Cambridge, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore forward Marsalis Beckford's (Brantford, Ontario) goal in the 64th minute of play stood up as Holy Cross topped Harvard by a score of 2-1 in a non-conference game at Ohiri Field Tuesday afternoon.

The win moves Holy Cross to 8-7-0 overall while Harvard falls to 4-8-2.

Holy Cross opened the scoring at the 22:14 mark when Josh Trott (Glen Cove, N.Y.) gathered a pass from junior midfielder Andrew Lunney (San Diego, Calif.) and beat Harvard keeper Adam Hahn for a 1-0 Crusader lead.

But the Crimson evened things up at 1-1 just before the break when Charles Altchek found the back of the net just 45 seconds before intermission.

Beckford then tallied his sixth goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner, when he threaded a shot past Hahn at the 63:24 mark. Trott and Lunney were credited with assists on the play.

Holy Cross freshman keeper Keith Bauer recorded his first win in his first career start after making six saves on the afternoon. Hahn also finished with six stops for Harvard.

The Crusaders had a 16-13 shot advantage, while Harvard had a 6-5 edge on corner kicks.

Holy Cross closes out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 5, when it plays host to Colgate at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day.
