Trott, Castrillon Named Patriot League Players of The Week

Sept. 13, 2005

Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross men's soccer captain Josh Trott (Glen Cove, N.Y.) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Felipe Castrillon (Weston, Fla.) garnered Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 11, as announced by Patriot League officials today.

Trott, a junior captain, scored three goals over the weekend, leading the Crusaders to their first two wins of the season at the Albany Showcase in Albany, N.Y. In Holy Cross' 3-1 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday, Trott tallied two scores, the first of which tied the game at 1-1 going into halftime. From that point on in the tournament, the Crusaders went on to score seven unanswered goals, and placed four players on the All-Tournament Team, including both Trott and Castrillon. Seniors Kevin Leonard (Unionville, Conn.) and goalie Richard Whipple (Columbus, Ga.) were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

On Sunday, Trott netted another score in the early going, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 lead, in a game they went on to win, 4-0.

Trott leads the team in goals (three) and points (six).

Castrillon had a breakout weekend on the pitch, recording his first two collegiate goals, including the game winner on Saturday against St. Francis (N.Y.). Castrillon went on to earn his first start of the season on Sunday against Canisius and scored on an unassisted breakaway effort.

He has played in two of HC's four games thus far and is second on the team in goals (two) and points (four).

The Crusaders (2-2-0, 0-0 Patriot League) host Sacred Heart in their home opener on Wednesday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m.
