HC Places Three On Men's Soccer All-League Teams

Nov. 14, 2007

Worcester, Mass. - Three Holy Cross student-athletes were named to the Patriot League Men's Soccer All-League teams, as announced by conference officials this afternoon. Junior Andreas Andrews (Los Angeles, Calif.) and junior Alejandro Melean (Miami, Fla.) were named to the All-League First Team. Junior co-captain Jerry Dickinson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named to the Second Team.

Andrews was named to the All-League Team for the first time in his career, after being ranked second in points (11) and goals (five). Andrews recorded his first collegiate game-winner this season, lifting the Crusaders to a 2-1 Patriot League victory against Lehigh on Oct. 13. Andrews was also named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine All-District I second team.

Melean was also named to the All-League Team for the first time in his career, scoring four goals and tallying one assist on the season for nine points. Six of his nine points on the season (three goals) were recorded during Patriot League games.

Dickinson started in all 14 games he appeared in this season, leading the Crusader defense to allow just 14 goals, the second fewest in school history. Dickinson also helped Holy Cross hold regular season opponents to a .095 shot percentage.

As the number one seed, the Crusaders will host the upcoming Patriot League tournament on November 16-18 at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. Holy Cross takes on fourth-seeded Lafayette Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. while No. 2 Colgate battles No. 3 Bucknell in the other semifinals game, slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
