2004-2005 Holy Cross Swimming & Diving Community Service

At the College of the Holy Cross, the swimming and diving teams pride themselves on giving back to the local community. Student-athletes, coaches and other members of the athletic staff participate in a variety of activities throughout the year.

Below is a listing of activities where the Holy Cross track swimming and diving teams were involved in community service projects during the 2004-2005 school year.

  • February 2, 2005 - The team took part in the Annual Holy Cross' Cares Day. This is a day where many HC students show their appreciation for the Worcester community by performing service-oriented activities, such as painting at several Worcester community centers, raking vacant lots and putting up fences. This team visited with residents at Clark Manor Nursing Home.
  • The swimming and diving teams hosted their annual Worcester County Swim League competition in September. This giant swim meet consisted of multiple teams from Worcester County with participants ranging from age eight through eighteen. The Holy Cross team volunteers ran the meet from its promotional aspects to taking charge of running the bull-pen and snack bar.
  • The swimming team once again participated in the American Sign Program, and hosted one-on-one swimming lessons for deaf children, siblings of deaf children and children of deaf adults in the community. The swim lessons were part of the Deaf Studies Program at Holy Cross. Photo Gallery
  • Coach Parenteau sent leftover `exam survival kits' to Jeremiah's Inn. The kits included fresh fruit, snacks and candy that were greatly appreciated by the homeless community
