Parenteau breaks record in one-mile ocean race.
 
 
Holy Cross Swimming And Diving Coach Breaks Record

Kingshill, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands - Holy Cross swimming and diving Coach Barry Parenteau took his team to the U.S. Virgin Islands over Christmas break to train and compete in the 2008 Dolphin Sea Swim race. The Crusaders competed on January 6th, beginning a one-mile race at the Frederiksted Pier and finishing at Rainbow Beach.

Parenteau, who competed in the male 50 plus category, swam the one mile race with a time of 28:12 breaking the race record, which he previously set in 2006, by just under two minutes (30:02). Finishing first for the men's team was sophomore Aaron Brosnan (Westford, Mass.) with a time of 23.08 placing 13ths in the male 18-25 group. On the women's side junior Maddie Alanis (La Jolla, Calif.) swam the mile in 22:45 with a fourth place finish in the women's 18-25 group.

A total of 34 Holy Cross athletes competed in this race. You can catch the Crusaders in there next swim meet set for Sunday, January 13th at the Hart Center Pool. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
