Men's Tennis Places Seven On Academic Honor Roll
Seven members of the Holy Cross men's tennis team have been selected to the 2009 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office, including seniors Jay DeSanto and Angelo Sica who made the Academic Honor Roll for the third time. Holy Cross' seven selections were the second most in the league. The other members of the team to be named to the honor roll were senior Brendan McElhenny, junior Dan Phelan, freshman Chris Das, freshman Dan Sheehan and freshman Ajeya Shekar. A total of 33 student-athletes from men's tennis teams around the league were named to the Academic Honor Roll. (more)

Wierzel Earns Second Team All-Patriot League Honors
Holy Cross sophomore men's tennis player Matt Wierzel has earned second team All-Patriot League honors. He is the first ever Holy Cross men's tennis player to earn All-Patriot League accolades. Wierzel, who played all of his matches at No. 1 singles, led the Crusaders with a 7-10 dual match record and a 2-3 tournament record for an overall mark of 9-13. His nine victories led the team. Wierzel won the No. 1 singles match versus Patriot League opponent Lafayette on April 4. For his first two seasons he has played all of his matches at No 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. (more)

Men's Tennis Concludes Season
The Holy Cross men's tennis team concluded the 2008-2009 season with an overall record of 4-14. Sophomore Matt Wierzel wrapped up the season with a 9-13 overall record, while playing No. 1 singles in every dual match of the year. Wierzel's nine singles victories were the most on the team. Freshman Chris Das had a solid rookie season as he went 7-12 overall, posting the second-most wins on the team. The Crusaders went 3-6 at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts. (more)
