Holy Cross Men's Tennis Defeated By Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's tennis team traveled to Fordham on Saturday for its final regular season match of the season. The Crusaders were defeated by the Rams 7-0, dropping to 2-6 overall on the spring.

At No. 1 doubles Matt Wierzel (Garden City, N.Y.) and John Burke (Burlington, Mass.) played tough against Dallas Harting and Austin Shoup, but dropped a close match in a tiebreaker 9-8 (8-6).

At No. 1 singles Wierzel played well against Harting but could not pull out the victory as he fell 4-6, 6-3, 10-5. Another close match came at No. 2 singles when Burke came up short to Shoup 7-5, 6-3.

The Crusaders play again at the Patriot League Tournament in Hamilton, N.Y., beginning with quarterfinal round play on Friday, April 25.
