ALBANY, N.Y. - No. 18 Albany picked up its sixth season win, defeating Holy Cross, 3-0, in non-conference action this afternoon.

Nicole Savage opened the scoring for Albany, grabbing a pass from Sam Daly and hitting the top left corner of the goal, making the score 1-0, with 8:43 left in the first half.

Just under four minutes later, Daly recorded her third goal of the season on a penalty corner against Holy Cross, assisted by Michele Polizois. Albany closed out the first half leading the Crusaders, 2-0.

Albany's offense didn't waste any time going into the second half as Michelle Simpson dribbled past goalkeeper Erin Singleton (Amesbury, Mass.) scoring an unassisted goal, her seventh on the season.

Singleton made five saves and Kelly Casey (New Egypt, N.J.) had two stops for Holy Cross. Albany goalkeeper Ashley Ross had three saves.

Holy Cross falls to 2-6 while Albany improved to 6-3.

The Holy Cross field hockey team returns to action tomorrow, hosting Cornell at 1 p.m.
