Doherty Scores two goals to lead Crusaders.
 
 
HC Women's Ice Hockey Defeats St. Michaels, 6-3.

Colchester, Vt. - Sophomore Katelyn Doherty (Toronto, Ontario) scored two of the six goals in tonight's conference win over St. Michaels. Senior Casey Harvell (Lexington, Mass.), sophomore Kathryn O'Connor (Brookfield, Conn.), sophomore Wendy Nobrega (Barrington, R.I.) and senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) also scored to give Holy Cross a 6-3 victory. The victory improves the Crusaders overall record to 9-3-1 (7-1-0 ECAC) while the Purple Knights fall to 3-8-1 overall (3-6-1 ECAC).

No goals were scored in the first period. The Crusaders had 16 shots on goal while the Purple Knights had five.

In the second period, three goals were scored, two by Holy Cross. Harvell scored the first goal of the night, during power play, at 9:07 with an assist made by freshman Colleen Krmpotich (Minneapolis, Minn). At 12:02, still in power play, Doherty put in her first of two goals with an assist by Harvel. The purple Knights scored at 17:44 to end the period 2-1 Holy Cross. HC took 14 shots, St. Mikes seven.

St. Michaels scored .59 seconds into the third period but Holy Cross would come back with four goals in a row. At 6:20, O'Connor scored unassisted on power play. Doherty scored her second goal of the game at 7:25 with an assist from Rush. Nobrega scored at 9:08 from an assist by both Harvel and senior Katie Falkowski (East Sandwich, Mass.). The final Holy Cross goal would be put in at 12:40 by Rush on power play with an assist from junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.). HC had 15 shots, St. Mikes seven.

Freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) was in goal tonight as she made 16 on 19 shots. Her record is now 6-3-1.

The Crusaders return to action on January 19th at Norwich. Start time is set for 3:00.
