Worcester, Mass. - The Crusaders hosted the St. Michaels Purple Knights in this afternoons conference match up. In a 3-1 decision Holy Cross defended their turf, defeating St. Michael's. With the win Holy Cross improves to 14-7-2 (12-4-1 ECAC) while St. Michael's falls to 6-14-1 (6-10-1 ECAC).

The Crusaders controlled the first period scoring two goals to lead 2-0. At 10:18 freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) put in the first goal with an assist by both junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Lisa Wilson (Corunna, Ontario). The second goal was put in at 13:37, on power play, by senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) with an assist by Kratchmer and Wilson. Holy Cross took 14 shots on goal while St. Michael's took six.

In the second period the Purple Knights came out with a quick goal scored 34 seconds into the period. The Crusaders answered back with a goal of their own made by freshman Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario) at 17:32 with an assist by Rush and Wilson. Holy Cross took seven shots on goal while St. Michael's took 10.

No goals were scored in the third period. Holy Cross took six shots on goal while St. Michael's took nine.

In goal tonight was freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia). She had a total of 24 saves in tonight's game. For the Purple Knights, Alysia Goldman was in goal with a total of 24 saves for the game.

The Crusaders take on UMass-Boston on Saturday February 23 at the Hart Center Rink. The start time is set for 2:00 pm.
