Holy Cross Women's Hockey Beats MIT, 8-1

Cambridge, Mass. - Sophomore Lisa Wilson (Corunna, Ontario) scored two of the eight goals while her teammates senior Parny Ormiston (Duxbury, Mass.), senior Katherine Falkowski (East Sandwich, Mass.), junior Amy McGhee (Newtown, Pa.), senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.), junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Wendy Nobrega (Barrington, R.I.) add one goal each. Holy Cross beat MIT in an 8-1 victory improving their overall record to 4-2-1 (3-1-0 ECAC).

Holy Cross jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period with goals by Ormiston at 6:43 assisted by freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) and senior Sam Murphy (Canton, Mass.). At 8:06 Falkowski would get an assist from McGhee for a goal. McGhee would then put in her own goal at 12:16 with an assists from senior Casey Harvell (Lexington, Mass.) and sophomore Kathryn Kelley (Dedham, Mass.). Rush would finish out the period with the final goal made at 18:24 assisted by Falkowski. Holy Cross would have 19 shots on goal while MIT had zero.

In the second period, Holy Cross increased its lead to 7-1 as Couzin put the puck in the net at 2:06 assisted by Rush and Kratchmer. Wilson would put in the next puck at 15:02 with an assist from Rush and freshman Christina D'Ambrogio (Toronto, Ontario). Rachel Longley from MIT would score at 15:49 but Holy Cross would fire right back at 19:46 with a goal by Wilson and assisted by Kelley. The Crusaders had 19 attempts at goal, MIT had 4.

Holy Cross finished out the game by scoring one more goals in the third period by Nobrega at 16:43 with an assist by sophomore Katelyn Doherty (Toronto, Ontario). Holy Cross had 14 attempts at goal for the period as MIT had eight.

Freshman Lindsay Atkinson (Westbank, British Columbia) made four saves tonight only giving up one while teammate freshman Alicia Lew (Brookline, Mass.) had eight. MIT goalie Rachel Bowens-Rubin made 52 saves giving up eight.

The Crusaders return to action on December 1st when they take on Salve Regina at Newport, R.I. at 6:00 p.m.
