Furtado will co-captain the 2007-08 women's rowing team and hails from Dayton, Maine where she attended the Catherine McAuley High School. Furtado was a competitive swimmer and was awarded the Southwestern Swimming Scholarship Award as well as the Kellie Marie Smith Memorial Athletic Award. During her time at Holy Cross, Furtado has become a Member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was a Holy Cross Book Prize recipient. Furtado joined the novice rowing team in 2004 with no rowing experienced and powered her way into the Varsity Eight in her sophomore year. Furtado sat bow seat in the Varsity Eight this past spring and recently lifted her way to a school record squat weight. Furtado has plans to attend Medical School after graduation in 2008.
