Holy Cross Rowing Announces 2008 Incoming Class

April 23, 2008

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team has announced the 2008 incoming class for the Crusaders. Four student-athletes will join the Holy Cross program for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Callie Gorman joins the Holy Cross women's rowing team from Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, N.J. As part of the Nereid Boat Club, she has experience both in sculling and sweep rowing. At Holy Cross, Gorman has plans to study psychology and take part in student congress.

Jackie Esperti comes to Holy Cross with six years of rowing experience at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, where she was a member of the Burnt Hills Rowing Association. Esperti has been the team captain for the past two years. She is also an avid water skier and is part of the U.S. Water Ski Show Team. Esperti hopes to study biology while at Holy Cross, with a concentration on pre-med.

Meaghan Pedlow, originally from Charlotte, N.C., will be graduating from the Kent School in Kent, Conn., this year. Pedlow has been part of the Kent rowing program for two years and was the recipient of the oars women award in 2007. She has plans to major in biology at Holy Cross.

Beth Charron will join the Crusaders from Manchester, N.H., where she attends Manchester High School. As a three sport athlete, she has kept herself busy as a varsity rower, and by playing basketball and softball. Named the 'Best Athlete' in rowing in 2007 and the winner of the NHIAA Female Athletic-Academic Award in 2008, Charron looks to continue her rowing career at Holy Cross in 2008. She plans on majoring in biology at Holy Cross and hopes to attend medical school in the future.
