Holy Cross Women's Soccer Defeated By Northeastern, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - Northeastern's Kelsey O'Rourke scored the game-winner with 6:04 left in the contest, as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Northeastern, 1-0, at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium in non-conference action on Monday night. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-3 overall, while the Huskies improve to 2-2 overall.

The first half went scoreless as Holy Cross freshman goalie Mary Ferketic (West Hartford, Conn.) made six saves, while Northeastern's Annie Petrofsky stopped three shots. Northeastern had a chance to get on the scoreboard with 19 seconds left in the first half, when Liza Rebello fired a shot but it hit the post.

With the game still tied at 0-0 in the second half, Maria Picard sent a crossing pass into the goalie box as O'Rourke was able to knock in the loose ball from four yards out to give Northeastern the 1-0 lead. Holy Cross senior goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) played the second half for Crusaders as she made nine saves. Petrofsky earned the win as she made three more saves in the second half to give her six for the game.

The Crusaders return to action on Friday, September 14, when they host Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
