Quinnipiac's Susan Donovan scored the game-winning goal to break a 2-2 tie at the 80:47 mark as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Quinnipiac, 3-2, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-7-1 overall, while the Bobcats improve to 5-2-0. Sophomore Casey Boland (Langhorne, Pa.) and junior Alison Peters (Bolton, Mass.) each scored a goal for Holy Cross.

The Crusaders got on the board at just 1:23 into the game when Boland scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Junior Meighan Kelly (Colts Neck, N.J.) sent a pass to Boland at the right 18, who then blasted a shot into the net. The Bobcats tied the game at the 14:09 mark when Kate Lissfelt knocked in a rebound from a shot by Jen Hirsch.

In the second half, Quinnipiac took a 2-1 lead when Leisl Lissfelt scored from outside the 18 into the top middle of the net with an assist by Kara Barrepski at 54:41. Holy Cross tied the game at 2-2 at the 77:16 mark when Peters scored her first goal of the season and fifth of her career. Freshman Paige Harrison (Sutton, Mass.) sent a pass to freshman Sarah Gouveia (East Greenwich, R.I.) at the lower left corner of the box who then crossed it to a waiting Peters who buried it into the goal.

Just over three minutes later the Bobcats took the lead for good when Donovan scored from the right 18 with an assist by Leisl Lissfelt.

Junior goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) made five saves for Holy Cross, while Sarah Lusto also stopped five shots for Quinnipiac. The Crusaders outshot the Bobcats by a 17-12 margin.

The Crusaders return to action when they host Army at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium on Friday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. The game will mark the first Patriot League contest for each team this season.
