Women's Soccer Defeated By Manhattan, 5-0

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Manhattan, 5-0, in non-conference action tonight. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-7 overall, while the Jaspers improve to 3-3-3 overall.

Manhattan made it a 1-0 game at 7:15 into the contest when Jill Beauchamp scored her first goal of the season. At the 18:30 mark, Caroline Morse netted her third goal of the year to increase the Jaspers' lead to 2-0. Christine Reina gave Manhattan a three-goal advantage when she scored her fourth goal of the season at 22:20.

In the second half, Reina recorded her second goal of the game and fifth of the year at the 51:50 mark, while Samantha Stahl scored the last goal of the game at 54:03 for her first goal of the season. The game was then halted with 6:08 left to play in regulation due to a power outage.

Holy Cross freshman goalie Mary Ferketic (West Hartford, Conn.) made five saves, while Alicia DeFino earned the win for Manhattan as she stopped two shots in the first 59:46.

The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, September 30, when they travel to Hamden, Conn. to play Quinnipiac at 2:00 p.m.
