Holy Cross Women's Soccer Falls To Hartford, 3-1

WEST HARTFORD, Conn.- The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Hartford, 3-1, in non-conference action this afternoon at Al-Marzook Field. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-8-2 overall, while the Hawks improve to 4-8 overall. Senior Kristen Locke (Martinsville, N.J.) scored her second goal of the season for the Crusaders.

The Hawks got on the board first at 8:35 into the game when Meagan Riemer scored her third goal of the year. The Crusaders tied the game at 1-1 at the 15:25 mark with Locke's goal.

Hartford took the lead for good in the second half at 63:06 when Laura Guigli netted her second goal of the season. The Hawks increased their lead to 3-1 with Guigli's second goal of the game and third of the season at the 78:56 mark. Brittany Black assisted on the goal.

Holy Cross junior goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) played in the first half making four saves and allowing one goal, while freshman Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.) played the final 45:00 allowing two goals and stopping four shots. Hartford's Liz Cook made three saves to earn the win.

The Crusaders return to action on Friday, October 6, when they host Patriot League opponent American at 7:00 p.m., at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
