HC Falls to Lehigh In Season Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Lehigh, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in the last game of the year for the Crusaders. Holy Cross finishes the season with a 4-14-2 overall record (1-5-1 Patriot League), while the Mountain Hawks improve to 8-8-1 overall (4-2-1 Patriot League) and will be the third seed in the Patriot League Tournament. Sophomore Casey Boland (Langhorne, Pa.) scored her team-best seventh goal of the season for the Crusaders, while she also led the team in points this season with 16.

Holy Cross took an early 1-0 lead when Boland netted a goal just 56 seconds into the game. Senior captain Lauren Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) assisted on the goal.

In the second half, Lehigh tied the game at 1-1 when Jen Fetsick scored at the 50:20 mark with an assist by Gina Lewandowski. Fetsick then scored the game-winner and her second goal of the day at 87:26. Lauren Calabrese was credited with an assist.

Holy Cross freshman goalie Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.) played the first half and made six saves, while junior Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) stopped four shots in the second half. Lehigh's Julie Kafka made two saves to earn the win.
