HC Defeats Lafayette, 1-0, In Season-Finale

EASTON, Pa. - Freshman Caitlin Belanger (Fall River, Mass.) scored the game-winner and senior goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) recorded a shutout as the Holy Cross women's soccer team defeated Lafayette, 1-0, in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon in the season-finale. With the win, the Crusaders finish the season with a 4-14 overall record (2-5 Patriot League), while the Leopards finish with a 3-15 overall record (0-7 Patriot League). Belanger scored the only goal of the game with one minute left in the first half when she scored off a crossing pass from freshman Christine Moran (Rindge, N.H.) for her fourth goal of the season and her first collegiate game-winning goal. Moran's assist was her first collegiate point. Pietrowicz made six saves to earn the shutout, while Mary Kate Erdman stopped one shot for Lafayette. |
