Women's Tennis Falls To Merrimack 5-4

North Andover, Mass. - The Crusaders hit the road to compete against Merrimack on Sunday, September 16, where they were taken down 5-4 in a close match-up. To start off the competition sophomore Kristen Meahl and senior Meg Moran won the No. 1 doubles match 8-6. Competing at No. 2 doubles were Ivette Konopka and Chase Fitzsimmons, who went up against Caitlin Dunn and Jessie Lamb of Merrimack, and were defeated 8-4. Hallie Lange and Paige Brown took the court against Allison Lydon and Brittany Holmes at No. 3 doubles, and posted an 8-2 victory. In singles play Kristen Meahl took on Caitlin Dunn, dropping a close match 7-5, 7-5. Meg Moran took on Stellina Saia, and was defeated in a tough match 1-6, 7-5, 6-2. Ivette Konopka lost to Amanda Carroll 7-5, 6-2, in her match up against Merrimack. Megan Manahan was defeated by Jessie Lamb in her match 6-3, 6-1. On an upper note, Hallie Lange defeated Elise Dufour of Merrimack in a quick victory 6-2, 6-0. Paige Brown also defeated Merrimack's, Nora Cahill 6-1, 6-4. The Crusaders will host there next match on Saturday, September 22, against Stonehill. Action is set to start at 10:00 a.m. Merrimack 5, Holy Cross 4 |
