Holy Cross Women's Tennis Holds Off Siena

Sept. 23, 2007

Worcester, Mass. - The women's tennis team competed Sunday against Siena here at the Crusaders home to defend their territory with a 5-2 win over Siena.

The Crusaders proved their strength on the court during singles where they won four of the six matches. Senior Meg Moran defeated her competitor Jessica Ferrara 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Ivette Konopka took down Lauren Moy with a victory 6-4, 6-2. Two more battles were won in the singles Sunday: in No. 5 singles junior Paige Brown defeated Lauren Garbade 6-2, 6-4, and sophomore Kathryn Wilkie defeated Jen Messing 6-1, 6-2.

In Doubles, sophomore Hallie Lange and junior Paige Brown would pair up to defeat Siena's duo 8-3. Kathryn Wilkie and freshman Chase Fitzsimmons defeated their competition 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles.

The Crusaders will compete again Wednesday, September 26th at Hartford, Conn. at 4:00 p.m.
