Track & Field Teams Fall To Maine

ORONO, Maine - The Holy Cross men's and women's track & field teams both were unable to pick a win up in Orono, Maine on Saturday afternoon. Losing a close match 97-82 were the Crusader men. The women fell 115-65.

Freshman Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.) got the Crusader men off to a great start by winning both the 60-yard dash (6.63) and the 200-meter dash (22.87).

One other track event was won by sophomore Michael Ricotta (Cross River, N.Y.), who finished in 51.51 in the 400-meter dash.

Sophomore Conor Meikle (Newport, R.I.) was victorious in the men's pole vault (3.96 meters). Also junior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) won the weight throw with a toss of 52-08.75.

For the women, freshman Katie Clay (Beverly, Mass.) was the lone individual winner on the day. Clay took first place in the one-mile run with a time of 5:24.51.

Both Holy Cross teams will return to competition on Saturday, February 11 at the Saint Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. at 10:30 a.m.
