Holy Cross Volleyball Defeats St. Peter's 3-1 In Season Opener
Aug. 24, 2007 WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior outside hitter Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) totaled 17 kills, 10 digs, three service aces and two blocks, to lead the Holy Cross volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over St. Peter's, by scores of 33-31, 15-30, 30-26, 30-28, on Friday night at the Holy Cross Fieldhouse in the season opener for both teams. With the win, the Crusaders open the season 1-0, while the Peahens start 0-1. Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) recorded 15 kills, three blocks and two digs for Holy Cross, while sophomore outside hitter Liz Auger (Barnstable, Mass.) had nine kills. Freshman setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) totaled 42 assists and eight digs for the Crusaders, while junior libero Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) chipped in with 12 digs. St. Peter's was led by freshman outside hitter Kate McFadden with 11 kills and 15 digs, while freshman outside hitter Kim Mendoza (Anaheim, Calif.) added 10 kills and eight digs.
