Volleyball Drops Season Opener To Binghamton, 3-0

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Binghamton, 3-0, on Friday night in the season opener for the Crusaders. The Bearcats improve to 2-0 on the season. In the first game of the Crusader Classic St. John's defeated Siena, 3-0.

Holy Cross sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) led the Crusaders with seven kills, while freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) chipped in with six kills in her first collegiate match. Junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) notched a career high 18 assists. Junior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) played solid defense for the Crusaders as she led the team with 12 digs.

Megan Hoag led the way for the Bearcats as she tallied 10 kills, while Jacki Kane added nine. Ashley Meffert led Binghamton in assists with 19.

The Crusader Classic concludes on Saturday with four matches. Siena vs. Binghamton at 10:00 a.m.; St. John's vs. Holy Cross at 1:00 p.m.; Binghamton vs. St. John's at 4:00 p.m.; Siena vs. Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m.
