Crusader Volleyball Falls To Rhode Island, 3-0

Cambridge, Mass. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Rhode Island, 3-0, on Friday afternoon in the first match of the New England Challenge at Harvard. Rhode Island won by scores of 30-25, 30-19, 30-20. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-4, while the Rams improve to 4-3.

Sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) led the Holy Cross offense with 10 kills and junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) passed out 21 assists. Junior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) had a solid all-around match as she had six kills with a .333 hitting percentage, three assists and a match high 16 digs. Senior Caitlin O'Callaghan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tied a team season high with four service aces.

The Rams were led by Lindsay St. John with 12 kills and 30 assists, and was followed by Inga Schlecht who had 11 kills and 14 assists.

The Crusaders continue play in the New England Challenge on Saturday, when they take on Boston College at 4:00 p.m., and tournament host Harvard at 7:00 p.m.
