Volleyball Defeats St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0

New Haven, Conn. - Sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) earned her fourth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 11 digs, while junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) registered 32 assists as the Holy Cross volleyball team defeated St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0, on Friday evening in the first match of the Yale Invitational. The Crusaders won by scores of 30-20, 30-19, 30-19. The Crusaders now have a two match winning streak and improve to 3-6 on the season, while the Terriers fall to 0-9.

Senior captain Caitlin O'Callaghan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) just missed a double-double as she notched a season high 12 kills with a .333 hitting percentage and recorded nine digs. Sophomore Meagan Merinder (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) each tallied six kills, while junior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) played outstanding defense as she led the team with 12 digs.

The Terriers were led by Lydia Ann Harris who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Setter Megan Lundquist had 17 assists.

The Crusaders continue play in the Yale Invitational on Saturday when they face Quinnipiac at noon, and then tournament host Yale at 7:00 p.m.
