Volleyball Falls To Colgate, 3-1

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 20 kills and 14 digs, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-1, by scores of 25-30, 32-30, 30-14 and 30-23 in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-23 overall (1-12 Patriot League), while the Raiders improve to 16-11 overall (11-2 Patriot League). Senior Meagan Merinder (Andover, Mass.) also had a strong match with 10 kills, while sophomore Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) had nine kills. Freshman Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded 43 assists. The Raiders were led by Katrina Zawojski's 16 kills and Meghan Fanta's 36 assists. The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, November 11 when they host Patriot League opponent Bucknell at 4:00 p.m. in the season-finale. |
