Cross Country Teams Compete at Keatinge Invitational

Orono, Maine - Running in a strong field at the Murray Keatinge Invitational, the Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams finished in 9th and 10th place, respectively. Senior Timothy Murphy (Wayne, N.J.) led the men's team with a 66th place finish in a time of 26:48. Pacing the women's team for the first time this year, freshman Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) ran in a time of 19:27 for 44th place.

On the men's side, Murphy again led the men. Behind him in 71st place was junior Stephen Kress (Portland, Maine) in 27:25 and Sebastian Fidelus (Jersey City, N.J.) in 81st. The Crusader men took 9th place with 288 points. Stanford won the race with 26 points overall.

For the Crusader women, Spilka was followed by fellow freshman Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.) who finished in 51st place with a time of 19:39. Also making a strong showing was sophomore Kathleen O'Gorman (West Hartford, Conn.) in 68th place. Holy Cross gained 261 points to take 10th place. Stanford also won the women's race with 25 points.

Next up for the Holy Cross runners is the New England Championships in Boston, Mass. on Friday, October 17.
